Sydney Sweeney was as picture perfect as ever at the 2025 Met Gala despite her recent split from ex-fiancé Jonathan Davino.
The Euphoria star, 27, looked lovely on the red carpet of the Monday, May 5, event at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, where the theme was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Sweeney stunned in a fitted black cleavage-baring Miu Miu gown, fastened with a gold clasp, and other jewelry by De Beers. For glam, she wore her blonde tresses in a sleek updo with delicate forehead-framing curls.
Speaking to Vogue on the red carpet, Sweeney noted her sequined look was a tribute to Vertigo actress Kim Novak.
“I’m doing a movie with [2025 Met Gala cohost] Colman Domingo, so we really wanted to bring that to life,” Sweeney said. “I think that’s such a beautiful story. … I’m so excited for him!”
Sweeney has been making style statements at the Met Gala since her 2022 debut on the iconic red carpet. At the time, she wore a white corseted Tory Burch gown with a voluminous skirt. A subtle tie detail on the skirt allowed Sweeney to release and step out of it, revealing the corset minidress underneath.
The following year, Sweeney stole the show yet again in a pink beaded and sequined Miu Miu gown with a flared train and a large black chiffon bow in her hair to match the bows on her dress.
In 2024, Sweeney ventured into brand new territory, looking nearly unrecognizable in a black bob wig. By hiding her long, blonde locks and incorporating black leather opera gloves as an accessory, she gave off edgy vibes despite the delicate nature of her pale blue tulle Miu Miu gown with flower embellishments.
Sweeney’s appearance at the 2025 Met Gala comes shortly after she called off her wedding to Davino, 41, following seven years together.
“They were supposed to get married this spring. The wedding is not happening, and they aren’t having further discussions about it,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in March. “Sydney wanted to cancel everything and couldn’t handle the stress.”

Sweeney’s jam-packed work schedule contributed to her problems with Davino, according to the insider.
“A lot of their issues stem from Sydney being extremely busy with work commitments,” the source continued. “She doesn’t have a lot of downtime, and it causes tension in their relationship. Sydney is really focused on her career. Jonathan wishes they were able to spend more quality time together.”
Later in March, a second insider confirmed that Sweeney and Davino had “officially split” after weeks of breakup rumors, adding that she was “telling friends she is single.”
Although the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala fundraiser has been happening since 1948, it wasn’t until Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour took over in the 1990s that the event became the Super Bowl of fashion. However, the pair were spotted together on multiple occasions after the news broke. While a source told Us in April that Sweeney and Davino were not “back together,” it was “hard for them to just pull the plug and stop all communication” after nearly a decade as a couple.
The insider added that the exes “have maintained a good relationship” since their split and were “figuring things out” as they navigated their new normal.
Despite her hangouts with Davino, Sweeney insisted that “she is single and very focused on work,” per the source.
