Teen Mom’s Catelynn Lowell and husband Tyler Baltierra have revealed why their daughter Carly’s adoptive parents blocked them.

Appearing in the Thursday, March 27, episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Lowell, 33, and Baltierra, 33, discussed Brandon and Teresa Davis’ decision to cut off communication despite initially agreeing to an open adoption.

“Brandon and Teresa straight up told our adoption counselor, Dawn, ‘Yeah, I had to block her [Catelynn] for my mental health,’ “ Catelynn said during the episode, per People. “And I was like, ‘Your mental health, your mental health?’ I mean, it was like anxiety. I literally felt every emotion come up when I hugged [Carly] in the hospital and told her bye.”

The explanation came after Lowell told Us Weekly in January that the last time she saw Carly, who was put up for an open adoption as a newborn in 2009, was two years ago. “They basically have closed the adoption on us,” she told Us at the time. “That’s hard.”

In the episode, Lowell added that Teresa “told Dawn to tell us that we’re not allowed to send gifts anymore because it’s uncalled for,” before noting that Dawn requested that they keep that directive to themselves. “I said, ‘Well, f*** now, I’m saying it. I’m spilling it from the rooftops.’”

Baltierra also featured in the episode, adding his own thoughts to the situation. “You have my kid, you can’t take my story, too,” he told the cameras.

The episode also saw Lowell recalling how Teresa requested an apology from her via Dawn. “You need an apology? For what? For me putting the truth out about how you are as a human and what you did to us. I deserve a f***ing apology,” Lowell concluded.

Catelynn Lowell is giving an update about her relationship with her 15-year-old daughter Carly’s adoptive parents. “Adoption is crazy. I’m blocked all because of me sending updates and pictures of her sisters,” the Teen Mom: The Next Chapter star, 32, claimed via her Instagram Story on Monday, September 9. “How is that fair to Carly […]

Lowell recently defended her decision to speak openly about Carly, 16, and keeping the teenager within her and Baltierra’s lives. “Before communication was cut, I was told Carly was asking her parents, ‘Why can’t we get together more? Why can’t we get together with them for holidays? They would fly here to come see me,’” Lowell alleged via her Instagram Story on February 9. “So in my heart, I don’t feel it’s her wanting this.”

Carly’s adoption was documented in MTV’s 16 and Pregnant. Although an open adoption was agreed upon — meaning Lowell and Baltierra could receive photos and see their daughter in person once a year — things began to change when Carly got older.

“I want Carly to know that if she’s the one that still wants contact and it’s not happening, I will fight for that til the day I die or until she tells me it’s too hard for me to have contact,” Lowell told Us. “But until that day, I want her to know that I am always here and always willing to do whatever I can.”

Teen Mom: The Next Chapter airs on MTV Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.
