Gather round, folks — formative, punishing daddy planet Saturn, AKA the true lord of the rings, is continuing his retrograde in the rule-averse sign of Pisces.
Since July 13th, Saturn has been retrograde in the hell mouth of Aries. Now the planet is dipping back into the psychedelic storm drain of Pisces on September 1st.
This is the planet’s last slow dance in the water sign before reentering Aries on February 13th, where it shall remain until April 2028.
Saturn retrograde in Pisces 2025
Saturn goes retrograde for roughly 4 to 4 1/2 months every year, and it takes the ringed one 29 years to circle the zodiac, staying in each sign for two and a half years.
Retrograde is a bit of a misnomer, as the planet only appears to move backward from our vantage point here on Earth.
In this sense, a retrograde signals a change in our perception of reality.
When Saturn slows, it disrupts and calls us to review the areas of life it rules: karma, legacy, responsibility, restriction, discipline, and divine purpose — our highest calling, and our daily grind.
As Saturn is the planet of boundaries, when it retrogrades through Pisces — the sign of boundlessness — our limits get pushed and our patience tested. Issues surface and instigate to show us how and when to make our “no’s” known.
Saturn’s return to Pisces presents an opportunity to revisit the structures and safeguards we have established over the past two years and assess what is working and what needs work.
Are you holding the line that keeps you safe or bending it to suit the shape of someone else’s needs? This is also a fine time to get real about energetic hygiene. Who is hijacking your peace, and why are you allowing it?
Because Pisces is the dream realm and Saturn is the glare of reality, the energy of this transit is well-suited to inner work and exploring the relationship between bedrock and high hopes: how can one support rather than subvert the other? How can we make the ephemeral (Pisces) our material?
We’re all getting schooled when Saturn retrograde rules, but four signs will feel the effects most acutely.

This transit begs the question: what are you building and for whose benefit? Are you acting in accordance with who you are or what you’ve been told you need to be? Are you listening to the false god of success or the true north of your own purpose? It may be time to course correct if what you’re doing feels more like running through the paces than working towards a peaceful plot of being.
