While singer D4vd has been releasing music since 2021, he recently raised eyebrows after a dead body was found in a car registered in his name.

Us Weekly confirmed in September 2025 that possible human remains were found in a Tesla vehicle parked in a California tow yard and registered to D4vd (real name David Anthony Burke). While the musician has not publicly addressed the situation, police officials are involved in a death investigation.

Weeks later, investigators identified the deceased individual as Celeste Rivas, who turned 15 the day before her body was found.

D4vd Got His Start on SoundCloud

D4vd began releasing music in 2021 with his breakout single, “Romantic Homicide” coming out the next year.

“In the back of my mind / I killed you / And I didn’t even regret it,” he sings in the 2022 song, seemingly hinting at romantic struggles. “I can’t believe I said it / But it’s true / I hate you.”

D4vd’s debut album, Withered, dropped in April 2025.

“I feel like my music can be viewed as myself talking to somebody or myself talking to myself,” he told Atwood magazine in 2025. “It’s a love-hate relationship between the mindsets that I have, like, how my brain switches or the evolution of my personality, and how I’m growing and maturing. It’s like growing out of certain things and approaching situations differently.”

That same month, D4vd offered insights into how Withered differed from his previous songs.

“It’s definitely a resurrection-type of thing, so by the end of the project, it’s done,” he said on the “Zach Sang Show,” discussing his musical inspiration. “That’s why the last song is called ‘Afterlife.’ That’s the final blow, you know? … I’m writing about myself and my emotions and my vulnerability, and I wasn’t doing that a lot [in my] last couple projects ‘cause I was homeschooled and I didn’t have nothing to talk about.”

D4vd Arrested for Celeste Rivas’ Murder

Seven months after Celeste Rivas’ remains were found in the trunk of his car, D4vd was arrested on suspicion of murdering the teen.

“Detectives from Los Angeles Police Department, Robbery-Homicide Division have arrested David Burke, a 21-year-old resident of Los Angeles, for the murder of Celeste Rivas. Burke is being held without bail,” the LAPD said in a statement to Us Weekly on April 16, 2026. “The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office on Monday for filing consideration.”

D4vd’s attorneys Blair Berk, Marilyn Bednarski and Regina Peter addressed the news in a statement to TMZ.

“Let us be clear — the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death,” the statement read. “There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed.”

They added, “David has only been detained under suspicion. We will vigorously defend David’s innocence.”
