Whoopi Goldberg is getting candid about her sex life at age 70.
“I bar hop, I go hang,” Goldberg quipped during the Wednesday, March 18, episode of The View after the roundtable discussed a recent Cosmopolitan article about a woman who fantasized about being single despite being in a “happy” long-term relationship.
According to Goldberg, the article’s essayist lamented about missing her “days of casual flings and bar-hopping.”
Joy Behar, for her part, chimed in to ask whether Goldberg herself missed “those days.”
“I am single,” Goldberg quipped. “I do hit and runs when I need it, but I am not married to anybody [and] I don’t have responsibilities.”
Turning the question to her married peers at the table, Goldberg wanted to know whether the other View hosts missed single life.
“I do, not the effort of a fling or a bar-hop, but a binge where I can sit and eat an ice cream and no one’s watching,” Sara Haines admitted. “I can watch whatever I damn want [or tell] one single person where I’m going in my day. It’s more to [do] the responsibilities [than] the singlehood because singlehood sounds exhausting if you’re looking for someone — but the single life was so lovely. I love being the center of my own world.”
Goldberg, for her part, has been married three times: to Alvin Martin from 1973 to 1979, David Claessen from 1986 to 1988, and Lyle Trachtenberg from 1994 to 1995. (Goldberg and Martin share 52-year-old daughter Alexandrea.)
In the years since her third divorce, Goldberg has been candid about not looking to walk down the aisle for a fourth time.
“I’m much happier on my own,” the EGOT winner told The New York Times in a 2016 profile. “I can spend as much time with somebody as I want to spend, but I’m not looking to be with somebody forever or live with someone. I don’t want somebody in my house.”
While Goldberg doesn’t want another husband, that doesn’t mean her sex life is over.
“If you don’t want a relationship, find somebody who doesn’t mind a hit-and-run with you,” Goldberg said during an October 2015 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, sentiments she echoed nearly a decade later.
During a December 2025 episode of The View, Goldberg once again discussed her affinity for “hit and run” sex.
“I like a hit and run because I am not interested in a committed relationship,” she said at the time, which she described as a casual hookup with a partner.
