Jeremy Allen White is traveling to a galaxy far, far away — but not in the way you might expect.

The actor, 33, has officially joined the cast of the upcoming film The Mandalorian & Grogu as the voice of Rotta the Hutt, son of the memorable Star Wars villain Jabba the Hutt. The movie, set to hit theaters in 2026, will follow Pedro Pascal’s Mandalorian warrior, Din Djarin (a.k.a. “Mando”), and the adorable Grogu (a.k.a. “Baby Yoda”) after the events of The Mandalorian season 3, which premiered on Disney+ in 2023..

Some might think the movie will be too hot to handle with two of the Internet’s most beloved boyfriends on the screen, but the actors won’t actually share the screen. White will lend his voice to the character, which is likely a puppet, while Pascal also largely just voices his helmet-covered character while a body double is onscreen.

As Star Wars fans know, The Mandalorian TV series picks up where the film franchise’s third installment (sixth chronologically), 1983’s Return of the Jedi, left off. In the movie, Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia strangles Jabba the Hutt to death during a plan to rescue Han Solo (Harrison Ford).

Aside from his name, details about White’s role as Rotta the Hutt are being kept under wraps. The character’s addition, however, does offer some potential plot details. The 2021 Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett also saw the takedown of Jabba’s cousins, the Hutt twins, by the show’s titular bounty hunter (Temuera Morrison). Given that Boba Fett and Mando have already crossed paths on their TV shows, maybe the pair will team up to take Rotta down in the film.

The Mandalorian & Grogu will not only mark White’s first major film franchise but also the first time a Star Wars TV project will make the jump to the big screen. The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau is set to direct the film, which will also star Sigourney Weaver in an undisclosed role.

White is currently filming the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere, which is expected to hit theaters next year. Fans got their first look at the Shameless alum as Springsteen, 75, in October, in which he embodied the legendary musician with brown colored contacts, a flannel shirt and a leather jacket.

White sported a similar look while hanging out on set with Springsteen last month. The film is set to follow Warren Zane’s book of the same name which documents the making of Springsteen’s 1982 album, Nebraska.
