Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy acknowledged Russia’s advancement and emphasized the importance for Ukraine’s allies to fulfil their obligation with munition supplies in his nightly address on Thursday.

“And it is very important that our partners really fulfil their obligations. On each package, on all our agreements. This is fundamental for our defence,” he said, adding that Ukrainian forces are observing closely the advance of the Russian army.

Zelenskyy says he also hopes to see advancement in the plan to loan Ukraine the promised 50 billion dollars from frozen Russian assets.

Earlier this year, 27 EU member states agreed to use the interest earned on Russian central bank assets to help support Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Moscow came under one of the largest attacks by Ukrainian drones since the start of the fighting in 2022, Russian authorities reported Wednesday, saying they destroyed all of those headed toward the country’s capital.

The attacks came as Ukrainian forces continued to push into Russia’s western Kursk region. In the past week, they have struck three bridges, several airfields and an oil depot in a sign they are not letting up on their attacks.

Late Wednesday, the governor of Russia’s Bryansk, which borders both Kursk and Ukraine, said Russian forces turned back a Ukrainian attempt to enter that region.

In Pokrovsk, Ukrainian forces defend the city from Russian troops who are quickly advancing towards the logistical hub.

The defeat of Pokrovsk, which is one of Ukraine’s main defensive strongholds, would bring Russia closer to its stated aim of capturing the eastern Donetsk region.
