Yeah, we barely remember that either. Now, it’s the home of all kinds of entertainment — including movies that didn’t get their due.
That’s why the Watch With Us team is always here to pick out a few of the best underrated films on the platform for you to enjoy.
Featuring stars like Idris Elba and Bob Odenkirk, these movies are sure to entertain you in September 2025. Check out our Prime Video picks below!
‘Nobody’ (2021)
Some of us (this author included) were intrigued when we saw the trailer for Nobody 2 in theaters this summer — especially since we’d never heard of the original Nobody. That’s a shame, because Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) is wildly entertaining in this action thriller about a former hitman who’s living a quiet life — until someone steals his daughter’s favorite bracelet.
When he starts pursuing the thieves, he opens the door to menacing figures from his past, leading to a chase full of brutal, high-octane fight sequences.
‘Three Thousand Years of Longing’ (2022)
Mad Max director George Miller helms this romantic fantasy, starring Tilda Swinton as Alithea, a professor of narratology (the study of storytelling) who discovers a djinn (Idris Elba) in a bottle. Though she has three wishes, she knows enough to realize that stories of wishing rarely end happily.
As the djinn shares stories from his own long life, Alithea is transported through history and begins to fall in love with the sultry, mysterious man. Lush, colorful and fantastical, Three Thousand Years of Longing feels like a wholly original modern fairy tale.
‘Beyond the Lights’ (2014)
Noni Jean (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) is a singer on the rise toward superstardom who secretly harbors deep despair. When she connects with young police officer Kaz Nicol (Nate Parker), he becomes her confidant and eventually her lover.
But as Noni faces pressure from both the music industry and her aggressive “momager” Macy (Minnie Driver), it’s not clear if their love can survive. The highlight of this film is Mbatha-Raw’s stunning vocal performance — her emotional singing will touch even the most cynical of hearts.
