Hulu is known for its popular and Emmy-winning shows like Only Murders in the Building and ABC’s Abbott Elementary, but did you know it also has a lot of great films to stream?
Watch With Us is here to highlight some of the streamer’s underrated movies that still don’t get the proper love they deserve.
If you like a good thriller, check into The Rental, a spooky suspense story about the horrors of Airbnb starring Alison Brie.
Fans of teen comedies should watch I Love You, Beth Cooper, while subscribers who want their thoughts provoked should watch the Swedish satire, The Square.
‘The Rental ‘ (2020)
You’ll never use Airbnb again after you watch the horror thriller The Rental. Maybe that’s a good thing. Four adults, married couple Charlie (Dan Stevens) and Michelle (Alison Brie), Charlie’s brother Josh (Jeremy Allen White) and his girlfriend, Mina (Shelia Vand), rent a secluded house on the Oregon coast. Their relaxing weekend getaway soon turns horrific when they discover they are being watched and stalked by an unknown person. Is it the house’s shady owner, Taylor (Toby Huss)? Or is it one of them?
The Rental is a thriller that expertly dials up the tension as the weekend progresses — and the bodies start piling up. The cast is terrific, with Brie standing out as a woman who discovers her marriage isn’t as strong as she thought, and the moody location is expertly exploited for its dark blue shadows that seemingly hide endless dangers. The ending is unsettling, preserving just enough mystery to make you wonder if someone is watching you right now.
The Rental is streaming on Hulu.
‘I Love You, Beth Cooper’ (2010)
High school senior Dennis Cooverman (Paul Rast) loves popular girl Beth Cooper (Hayden Panettiere), but he waits until the last possible moment to tell her — during his valedictorian speech on graduation day. With nothing to lose, he invites Beth and her friends over to his house for one last party. She reluctantly accepts, and what starts as a dare soon turns into something more personal as the two bond while getting into all sorts of misadventures, including joyriding, breaking into their school and making out next to a bonfire.
I Love You, Beth Cooper is a throwback to all those 1980s teen comedies like Sixteen Candles and Weird Science — only without the casual sexism and misogyny. Beth starts as a stereotype — the manic blonde dream girl — but soon turns into the movie’s most fleshed-out and sympathetic character. That’s due in part to Panettiere, who utilizes her natural charisma and intelligence to make Beth a love interest who is far better than the boys who all lust after her.

‘The Square’ (2017)
Christian (Claes Bang) is a museum curator in Sweden who is under pressure to attract more people to a forthcoming art exhibit. While walking to work, a young kid takes his wallet and phone. Obsessed with getting his personal items back, he tracks the boy down — and sets in motion a chain of events that will bring about his professional and personal downfall.
Believe it or not, The Square is a comedy, but its humor is laced with blistering social commentary that makes fun of the art world as well as upper-middle-class people like Christian, who prioritize their possessions over everything else. The Square was directed by Ruben Östlund, who also helmed the Oscar-nominated satire Triangle of Sadness, and it bears his signature brutal humor. Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss shows up as an American reporter who has an affair with Christian, and who might be the only one to see through all of his artsy-fartsy baloney.
The Square is streaming on Hulu.
