Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski have called it quits after nine years of marriage.

The estranged couple released a joint statement announcing their split on Tuesday, September 15.

“We have been separated for a while, and it’s proven to be the right move for us and our family unit,” Seyfried, 40, and Sadoski, 50, told People. “We’ve got each other forever — and it’s good.”

Us has reached out to Seyfried and Sadoski for comment.

Seyfried and Sadoski met in 2015 when they played a couple in the Off-Broadway play The Way We Get By. At the time, Seyfried was dating Justin Long, while Sadoski was married to Kimberly Hope. (Sadoski and Hope divorced later that year.)

“[He] never flirted, never disrespected his wife,” Seyfried told PorterEdit in a 2018 profile, recalling Sadoski’s behavior when they first crossed paths. “That was another reason why I thought, later on, that I could marry him.”

Following her own breakup from Long, 48, in September 2015, Seyfried reconnected with Sadoski while filming 2017’s The Last Word.

“It was amazing. It felt healthy and freeing and clean,” Seyfried told PorterEdit of the start of her and Sadoski’s romance. “We can tell the story without any guilt.”

Us broke the news in September 2016 that Sadoski proposed after six months of dating. The pair secretly wed in March 2017 while Seyfried was pregnant with their first baby.

The couple’s daughter, Nina, was born two weeks after they said “I do.” Seyfried and Sadoski later welcomed son Thomas Jr. in September 2020.

As their relationship and family grew, Seyfried and Sadoski moved their brood to a farm in upstate New York.

“The vibe [in Hudson County] just suits them all as a family, they love being around nature and away from the hustle of city life,” a source exclusively told Us in March 2022. “Amanda loves to hike. She and Thomas [are] huge fans of the outdoors and they’ve been taking the kids out locally, plus exploring more of the East Coast.”

The insider noted that the Mean Girls actress often traveled back and forth to Los Angeles for work, and Sadoski would join her “ when he can, but he’s equally adept at being a hands-on dad and taking care of business at home when she’s busy and he’s not.”

“They try to time their schedules that way, as well as making plenty of time for date nights and trips away by themselves,” the source added.

Earlier this year, Seyfried shed light on the pair’s relationship dynamic, telling Vogue in January that Sadoski made a lot of “sacrifices” for her.

“He also knows that, in this moment, the opportunities I’m being afforded are insane,” the Mamma Mia! actress explained. “My world’s moving so fast, and there’s so many things I have to do each day.”
