Amy Schumer and her estranged husband, Chris Fischer, are one step closer to becoming officially single again.
The comedian, 45, and the chef, 46, have reached an agreement in their divorce nine months after filing to end their marriage, Us can confirm.
The exes submitted their proposed divorce judgment to a New York court on Thursday, September 24. The judgment was signed by the court and is now awaiting final processing by a county clerk, according to the docket. (Page Six was first to report the news.)
Schumer and Fischer got married in February 2018 and went on to welcome son Gene in May 2019. (Us can confirm the court also processed orders concerning support for the pair’s now 7-year-old son.)
In November 2025, the pair sparked split speculation when Schumer posted a photo without her wedding ring. At the time, she seemingly shut down the rumors, explaining via Instagram, “I never wear jewelry.”
“Whatever ends up happening with Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism,” she added, referring to her body transformation and Fischer’s diagnosis. “Fingers crossed we can make it through … he’s the best.”
Despite her previously optimistic message, Schumer confirmed her separation from Fischer the following month.
“Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after seven years,” she captioned her December 2025 Instagram post, which showed her and Fischer smiling as they rode the subway together in New York City. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time.”
Schumer insisted that she and Fischer did not decide to end their marriage because she “dropped some lbs” or because he is a “hot” James Beard “award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail.”

“Amicable and all love and respect!” she concluded. “Family forever.”
Later that month, a source offered some insight into why Schumer and Fischer called it quits, insisting that the pair were still on good terms after their breakup.
“Amy still adores Chris, just not romantically,” the insider exclusively told Us Weekly at the time. “He’s a great guy and an even better father.”
Schumer and Fischer’s marriage ultimately “lost its spark,” which led them to go their separate ways, per the source.
“There wasn’t some big, scandalous catalyst for their split,” the insider revealed. “It just happened slowly over time, and they agreed their relationship was no longer what it once was.”
Schumer and Fischer’s separation was actually “months in the making” as the two worked out “how it [would] look,” especially when it came to their son, Gene.
“The goal is to make it as smooth of a transition as possible so as not to disturb their son’s day-to-day,” the source told Us. “One of the many things they see eye to eye on is Gene and his happiness coming first.”
For Schumer, the separation had “been an easy adjustment so far,” with the insider adding she was “in a good place and even [cracked] jokes” about the situation.
Nearly one month after announcing their split, Us confirmed that Schumer filed for divorce from Fischer with the New York County Supreme Court in January. According to documents obtained by Us, the case was listed as “matrimonial — uncontested.”
