Billy Ray Cyrus is gushing over daughter Miley Cyrus’ sweet gesture as he rings in his 64th birthday.

“For my birthday, Miley gave me the gift of music and wrote me a song called ‘Secrets’ and got my favorite musicians Fleetwood Mac to play on it!” Billy Ray wrote via Instagram on Monday, August 25. “ I love you Mile ❤️.”

Alongside the message, Billy Ray shared a series of clips of him walking around a field and sitting down with a phone in hand. Billy Ray smiled and laughed as he donned a pair of jeans and a leather jacket, styling his long brown hair into two pigtail braids.

Billy Ray paired the photo with audio from Miley’s song, where she can be heard singing, in part, “Secrets / I want to keep your secrets / Like sunlight in the shadows / Like footsteps in the grass.”

Damian Hurley — the son of Billy Ray’s girlfriend, Elizabeth Hurley — recognized the musician’s birthday in the comments section of his post, writing, “🥳🥳🥳.” (Billy Ray and Elizabeth, 60, confirmed their romance in April.)

Billy Ray and Miley, 32 — who starred on the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana — have been open about their ups and downs. In May, Miley shared an update on where she stands with Billy Ray.

“My dad and I have had our challenges over the years,” Miley wrote in the Instagram statement at the time. “Now, in my 30s, family is my priority above all else. I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing.”

Hours before the statement, Billy Ray shared a photo of him with Miley and her boyfriend, Maxx Morando, and son Braison, 31. Along with Miley and Braison, Billy Ray shares Noah, 25, Brandi, 38, and Trace, 36, with ex-wife Tish Cyrus. He is also the father of Christopher, 33, whom he shares with ex Kristin Luckey.

While reflecting on her family dynamics, Miley explained that she’s changed her perspective with age.

“As I’ve gotten older, I’m respecting my parents as individuals instead of as parents — because my mom’s really loved my dad for her whole life, and I think being married to someone in the music industry and not being a part of it is obviously really hard,” she said during a May interview for The New York Times’ “The Interview” podcast. “I think I took on some of my mom’s hurt as my own because it hurt her more than it hurt me as an adult, and so I owned a lot of her pain.”
