Brad Pitt is talking all things … flatulence.

Pitt, 61, appeared on the Wednesday, July 2, episode of Travis and Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast and discussed the ongoing bit where he eats in every single movie. The conversation brought up a wild memory.

“I haven’t thought about this for years. One of my first movies, I’m doing this little independent film,” the actor said, setting the scene. “We’re shooting in this little tiny cafe. It’s full of the crew. So there’s about 60 people in there. It’s hot. You can’t breathe.”

Pitt explained that his character in the film “hadn’t eaten for days” and decided to get a “big plate of beans.” The F1 star joked that he was “all method” at this point in his career.

Brad Pitt’s near-40 year Hollywood career and legendary romances have generated countless headlines. Pitt became one of Hollywood’s biggest heartthrobs and most bankable stars in the 1990s with starring roles in Legends of the Fall, Interview with the Vampire and Fight Club. At the same time, his romances with former costars Gwyneth Paltrow, Geena Davis […]

“I was like, ‘I’m gonna’ do this right,’” Pitt continued. “I just power down this plate of beans. Take two, do the same thing. Take three, I do the same thing. I do the same thing. … Something hit me.”

Because Pitt was filming the scene, he was “stuck” on set and “nature took its course” as they continued filming. Initially, nothing happened but Pitt recalled the most “diabolical” smell descending on set, leading the crew to “flee” the café.

“Ever since then, I’ve paced myself,” Pitt said.

For those unfamiliar with Pitt’s career, eating has become kind of a nonnegotiable for him in movies.

“Damn, I don’t know how I get this — like people eat in life,” Pitt said, noting that it started with his role as Rusty Ryan in 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven. (There are TikTok edits of these scenes, don’t worry.)

“I figured he’s always waiting around. He’s like the consigliere of the group,” Pitt explained. “He’s got to eat on the run. That’s where this came from. There was thought behind it.”

Pitt joked that he’s a “grazer” and noted that out of “everything” he’s done, this is what he’s become known for on screen. As for the best thing he’s consumed on camera? Pitt recalls a “big” ice cream sundae the best.

Pitt previously discussed this with Margot Robbie back in 2019 during the Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood press tour.

“I have noticed you eat food a lot in movies,” Robbie said at the time. Pitt responded, “I like to busy myself, I’m a grazer by nature.”

The Ocean’s Eleven of it all was brought up.

“There was actually method to that, because he was always on the run, always on the move, I figured he could never sit down and have a proper meal,” he told Robbie. “So he always had to grab something on the run.”
