Chad Lowe’s father, Charles “Chuck” Lowe, honored his late granddaughter, Fiona, in a touching social media tribute following her death at 13.
“Rest in peace sweet Fiona,” Chuck wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, September 30.
The Lowe patriarch shared a photo of Fiona in the pool with a sweet smile on her face in remembrance.
Chuck’s heartfelt post comes one day after Chad, 58, and his wife, Kim Painter, announced the tragic death of Fiona. (The couple also share daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.)
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” the pair said in a joint statement on Tuesday, September 29. “She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.”
The family noted that Fiona was “adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents,” adding, “In fact, she was the light of our lives.”

“Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time,” the statement concluded. “If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.”
Nearly one year prior, Chad paid tribute to Fiona as she entered her teenage years on her 13th birthday.
“Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!” he captioned a sweet Instagram photo of his middle daughter in November 2025. “Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
Chad, who is the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, previously gushed about being a girl dad and the “privilege” he felt parenting his girls. (Rob, 62, for his part, shares two sons, Matthew, 33, and John, 30, with wife Sheryl Berkoff.)
“I’m a girl dad,” he shared during a 2024 appearance on the “Still Here” podcast. “It’s so interesting because [I’m] always wanting to have my own experiences and not live in the shadow or follow in the footsteps of somebody.”

Chad explained, “I get the experience of being a girl dad. I feel like having daughters is such an incredible privilege.”
The Pretty Little Liars alum noted, “I look at the world from really their perspective, and I see the world and a lot of the injustices in the world from their perspective.”
He pointed out that it’s “not all doom and gloom” and as “society is changing,” he’s seen how “we’re really becoming conscious of the role of women. We may, who knows, have the first female president.”
