Donna Kelce subtly reacted to her son Travis Kelce’s engagement to Taylor Swift.
In honor of Travis’ proposal, Donna, 72, quietly tweaked her Facebook cover photo on Wednesday, August 27, to composite images of Travis and Swift, both 35, when they were children.
The couple, who have been together for two years, announced their engagement on Tuesday, August 26.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Travis and Swift captioned a joint Instagram post, sharing a handful of stunning proposal photos.
Travis’ dad, Ed Kelce, later revealed that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end popped the question two weeks earlier in his backyard in Kansas City, Missouri.

“He surprised her. They were going to go out to dinner and she was ready to go, [and he said], ‘Let’s go out in the garden. Let’s go out on that little patio out there, and have a glass of wine before we go. We got time,’” Ed recalled on Tuesday’s episode of “The Jimmy & Nath Show With Emma” podcast. “As they walked out there, she could see there’s a lot more flowers out there [than usual].”
There in the garden, Travis got down on one knee and asked Swift for her hand in marriage.
“Travis had these plans to do it, I think, on the next weekend before he took off for Brazil,” Ed said on the podcast, referring to his son’s NFL schedule. “He was going to make a big production out of it. [He] wanted to make it really special.”
A conversation with Ed and Taylor’s dad, Scott Swift, ultimately inspired Travis to change his proposal plans.
“I told him the same thing Scott told him, [which was] asking her is what’s going to make it special,” Ed recalled. “That’s where you do it, you know what I mean? … Scott adds on, ‘Just get it done [and] don’t worry about any special date. You’re ready, you got the ring [and] go do it.’”
According to Ed, Travis “was ready” to pop the question in July.
“He had a lot going on then. He had a day off from [training] camp, and I sent him a text, ‘Just go ahead, get a plane, fly to where she is and get this done.’ He just laughed it off,” Ed quipped, musing that Travis and Taylor are “made for each other.”
Ed continued, “He had sent me a picture of the ring, and this was a while ago. Family on both sides, kind of, assumed this was going to happen because we’ve never seen our kids so happy.”
