Family and friends continue to mourn the death of Sophia Hutchins following a tragic accident.
According to TMZ, Hutchins — Caitlyn Jenner’s longtime friend and manager — died on July 2 in Malibu, California, in an accident involving an ATV and another vehicle. She was 29.
While details surrounding the accident remain limited, TMZ reported that Hutchins was riding an ATV on a road when she struck the bumper of a separate moving vehicle.
The impact forced the ATV over the shoulder of the road, sending Hutchins nearly 350 feet down into a ravine. She was pronounced dead at the scene, per TMZ.
Authorities are now investigating the accident and reportedly suspect speed could have played a factor in the fatal incident. Us Weekly has reached out to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department for comment.

Who Was Sophia Hutchins?

Hutchins was thrust into the spotlight after she met Jenner in 2015. At the time, the Olympic athlete’s divorce from Kris Jenner was being finalized as she publicly announced she is a transgender woman and had transitioned.
Hutchins, who was also a transgender woman, appeared on several episodes of Caitlyn’s E! docuseries I Am Cait and managed her business affairs and engagements.
Despite walking red carpets together and sharing a close bond, both parties maintained they were just friends and coworkers.
Outside of her working relationship with Caitlin, Hutchins described herself on Instagram as a “serial entrepreneur, founder and investor” who was a “proud American, catholic, dog mom [and] golf addict.”
When Did Sophia Hutchins Die?
On the morning of July 2, Hutchins was driving a 2013 Polaris four-wheeler when she reportedly rear-ended a 2016 Mazda sedan in the mountains of Malibu, California, before falling off a 350-foot cliff.
Two people in the Mazda were uninjured, but Hutchins was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after first responders arrived.

One day after Hutchins’ death, Caitlyn was spotted getting coffee in Malibu, California. According to the Daily Mail, the former Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was asked about the incident and broke her silence on the tragedy.
“I don’t want to talk,” Caitlyn replied, before acknowledging she was going through “tough times.”
Previously, the reality star called Hutchins her “best friend, family and confidant” in a 2019 interview with the New York Times.
“She is one of the top minds in her field,” Caitlyn added. “Her value in my life is undeniable. The sky is the limit with her entrepreneurial spirit.”

What Has Police Said About Sophia Hutchins’ Death?
Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told the Daily Mail that he believes Caitlyn visited the accident site while sheriff’s deputies were on scene.
In regards to the actual accident, Saucedo was able to provide a few more details about what led up to the crash.
“It looks like she may have been speeding and rear-ended the other car, the other party, and then that caused her to veer to the right and go off the cliff,” he told the Daily Mail in an interview published July 5. “It doesn’t seem like she was following them. I think she just came up on them and then hit the car. It looked like she tried to maneuver to go around it, but she was going too fast and just ended up clipping the rear end of that Mazda, causing her to veer off and go off the cliff there.”
