Taylor Swift previously expressed her desire to get married before announcing her engagement to Travis Kelce.

In a 2012 cover interview with Cosmopolitan, Swift, now 35, revealed that she wants to tie the knot and have children one day.

“Being a mom full-time, doing everything for my kids, having a bunch of them,” she said, per The Hollywood Reporter. “One day, I’m sure.“

Swift has also written several lyrics about marriage in songs from her extensive discography. In the bridge of the 2019 hit “Lover,” Swift includes a play on “something borrowed and something blue.” She sings, “Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand? / With every guitar string scar on my hand / I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover.”

“If you know it in one glimpse, it’s legendary / You and I go from one kiss to getting married,” Swift croons in the chorus of the track “loml,” before she sings, “You s***-talked me under the table / Talkin’ rings and talkin’ cradles.”

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” the couple captioned the post.

The update in their relationship comes days after Swift appeared on Travis and his brother Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast, where she detailed the beginning days of her romance with the NFL star. In the episode, Swift reflected on Travis publicly sharing his disappointment after not meeting her during her July 2023 Eras Tour date in Kansas City.

“It was such a wild romantic gesture to just be like, ‘I want to date you!’ At first when I looked at it, I was like, ‘This dude didn’t get a meet-and-greet and he’s making it everyone’s problem,’” Swift recalled. “He didn’t even reach out to our management! When this podcast came out I was like, ‘Did he ever reach out to be in the tents or did we know he was in the building?’ He came with Patrick Mahomes and he thought that because he knows the elevator lady that he could just talk to her about getting [backstage]. That’s how it works in 1973.”

She continued, “This was more like I was in an ’80s John Hughes movie and he was just standing outside of my window with a boombox just being like, ‘I want to date you! Do you want to date me!? So I was like, ‘If this guy isn’t crazy, which is a big if, this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about what I’ve been wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.’”
