Influencers Carlo Longo and Sarah Mollica are opening up about their “devastating” pregnancy loss.

The couple, both 28, who gained a following after sharing their cross-cultural love story, announced that they experienced a miscarriage via TikTok on Saturday, August 2. Sarah was two months pregnant.

“Our baby. Our greatest love & our biggest heartbreak,” Sarah wrote alongside a touching video of their pregnancy journey. “We prayed for you every second of every day. Growing you and being your home was my biggest blessing in life. Even though we lost you, you made us stronger. You’ll always be a part of us & our story. You’ll always be ours. Our baby.”

The caption continued: “Talking about such a personal, real, raw, devastating life event to so many people is scary. But what’s scarier is going through this alone. 1/4 [of] pregnancies end in loss. For anyone going through it/has gone through it just know I am here for you. I feel you. I am you.”

Sarah and Carlo learned they were expecting in June and saw the pregnancy on two early ultrasounds. They were told the baby was measuring small but that they would come back for a follow-up scan. At eight weeks and four days pregnant, they discovered there was no fetal heartbeat. She has since had a D&C procedure to expel the remainder of the pregnancy.

“When [the] heartbeat stops is when your body stops producing the hormone, I guess, but it doesn’t notice that you lost the pregnancy. So I had no bleeding, I had no cramping, I still had symptoms,” Sarah shared, tearfully.

Carlo chimed in, “If I can say something, if your partner goes through this, stay close to your partner, because it’s extremely important. I think we can’t understand it. … you know you’re the mother. You have more connection — they grow in you. So, it’s a little bit different. But I can tell you they will appreciate forever if you be close to them because they really need it.”

“Having Carlo, like, I tell him all the time, I would not have gone through any of this without him,” Sarah added.

The couple went on to say that they support others who are experiencing pregnancy loss and want them to know they’re not alone.

Chloe Trautman and her husband, Chris Long, recently suffered a pregnancy loss. “I thought my 28th birthday post was going to look very different this year. Chris and I were planning to announce our pregnancy today,” the Siesta Key star, 28, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, September 7. “I found out I was pregnant over [the] summer […]

Sarah, who is American, first met Carlo in 2015 when she visited family in southern Italy. Carlo worked as a lifeguard at the beach club his family owns where Sarah’s family would go every summer. Even though he barely spoke English, Carlo eventually asked Sarah on a date in 2019 and that summer they became inseparable.

Sarah returned to the U.S. and Carlo surprised her with a month-long visit in the fall. Pandemic travel restrictions put their long-distance relationship to the test, but they ended up meeting up in Ireland during the summer of 2020, when Carlo proposed.

They got married in a civil ceremony in Italy in July 2021, but without Sarah’s family and friends able to attend due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They had their second wedding, with family and friends in attendance, in October 2022 in the U.S. They now live in Massachusetts.

Carlo and Sarah have earned 6.5 million followers on TikTok as they show the hilarious and oftentimes very endearing situations that arise when cultures clash in a relationship.
