Katy Perry is set to be grilled in court about rumors she rented out her $15 million Santa Barbara, California, mansion to Chris Pratt, Us Weekly can exclusively report
According to court documents obtained by Us, the pop star, 40, will be asked about a report from June that Pratt, 46, and his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, recently moved into the 8-bedroom, 9-bathroom, 9,285 square-foot estate.
The home in question was purchased by Perry, via her business manager Bernie Gudvi, from Carl Westcott in 2020.
Westcott, 85, tried to get out of the deal a couple of days after executing the paperwork. The businessman claimed he was under the influence of painkillers from a recent surgery and was not in his right mind.
He filed a lawsuit against Gudvi, alleging Perry’s manager refused to back out of the deal despite his plea. Gudvi argued the deal was valid and asked for it to be enforced.

In November 2023, the first phase of the trial started. It concluded with the judge siding with Perry’s team. The court ruled the deal was valid and Perry was the rightful owner. The deed was transferred to Perry’s LLC in May 2024.
The legal battle isn’t over. The parties are headed to phase two of the trial where Perry is set to testify about alleged damages.
Perry’s team argued they were entitled to $3.5 million in damages for lost rental value from September 2020 (when the deal closed) to March 2024 (when Perry got the keys).
In addition, Perry’s team believes they are owed another $2.2 million for repairs to restore the home to the condition it was purchased in.

Gudvi claimed a team of experts examined the property in early 2024 and determined “that significant portions needed to be repaired, including nearly a million dollars in pervasive flood damage that occurred in early 2024 and substantial repairs that are needed due to a large tree falling on and cracking the foundation of one of the buildings on the Property, among many other defects throughout the Property.”
Perry’s team argued, “Gudvi bargained for the condition of the Property in July 2020, and the $15 million purchase price was based on the Property as it existed at that time. Westcott should not be able to profit from his own deficient construction and lack of maintenance while this litigation was pending.”
On top of that, Perry’s team said it will seek approximately $3 million in legal fees.
In a recent filing, Westcott said he wished to depose Perry’s ex, Orlando Bloom. The businessman’s legal team wants to ask Bloom, 48, about repairs to the home and whether he ever lived in the home with Perry.

Perry’s team asked the judge to shut down the subpoenas issued to Bloom. They argued the requests were untimely. As Us previously reported, the request was shut down on August 1.
For their part, the Westcott team denied the home was damaged between 2020 to 2024. In court documents, their lawyers point out Perry had to deposit $9 million of the $15 million sale price into an escrow account, “leaving $6 million of the price she owes up to the decision of the court after the second phase of the trial.”
Westcott’s team said Perry’s team initially claimed $3.25 million in damages but then added another $2.29 million in repair damages.
In a filing, his lawyer argued, “Perry’s game is clear. During years of litigation, she asserted $3.25 million in loss of use damages. But immediately after the [decision], providing that she would pay $9 million of the $15 million price … was approved by the Court, she is trying to add $2.29 million in ‘new damages’ which brings her total damages claim up to $5.4 million, an amount close to the $6 million she still owes.”
Phase two of the trial is scheduled for August 15.
As Us previously reported, Perry sparked romance rumors this week after being spotted out with the former Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau. The pop star, who is in the middle of her world tour, broke things off with Bloom earlier this year.
