Lorenzo de Moor had more than a few kind words to share about his You, Me & Tuscany co-star, Regé-Jean Page.

“It’s so funny because Regé speaks a bunch of Italian in this movie and he would come to me and be like, ‘Hey, man, is this good?’ And I would just get annoyed, because this guy is already super handsome and super charming and then he would be able to speak Italian so well, even better than me,” Moor, 31, exclusively told Us Weekly of what it is like off-set with the former Bridgerton star, 38.

“I was like, ‘What is this all about?’” he added.

Moor also shared similar sweet sentiments about fellow lead Halle Bailey.

Mother Nature may be luring you toward the outdoors with its warmer weather this spring, but Us Weekly has a lineup of must-see movies that will happily keep you inside and glued to the screen. March, April and May offer an array of different moviegoer options, kicking off with Zendaya and Robert Pattinson’s The Drama […]

“I was just so pleasantly surprised with Halle, what you see is what you get,” Moor told Us. “The most loving, available person. She’s a wonderful mother, a wonderful scene partner and just a bundle of joy. Every time she would come to set, she would just bring light. And that’s a gift, you know, if you can do that and lighten up a room, it’s extremely special.”

In the film, released on Friday, April 10, Moor and Page play “cousin-brothers” who grew up outside of Tuscany, Italy. Page’s Michael was taken in by his cousin Matteo’s (Moor) family after his parents died. As an adult, Matteo flees Italy after a disagreement with his family, with hopes of discovering who he is away from the Tuscan sun.

Moor shared that he saw a lot of himself and his friends in Matteo.

“I know exactly where he’s coming from. And there was something about the hunger of this character, the need to go somewhere else and escape, and broaden up, that I was really drawn to,” Moor said. “The fact that, in doing that, because of the fire and because of how big that necessity is, sometimes it also becomes a little messy, especially when you have such deep and strong roots.”

Page’s Michael remains in Italy to help out the family and pick up some of the slack left behind by Matteo’s absence. Enter Anna (played by Bailey, 26) who meets Matteo at a bar randomly and decides to take a chance and travel to Italy in hopes of finding him and her next adventure.

While Matteo is nowhere to be found on her arrival, she does come across Michael and the two form an instant connection, though there are barriers in the way of the two of them ending up together. Without spoiling the film, everyone does get their version of a happy ending and utilizes these new found relationships to help reach that.

“[What] I love about this movie is that every character needs each other in order to grow,” Moor told Us. “Anna needs Matteo to find the power and go to Italy. Matteo needs Anna to go back home and talk to his family. Regé [Michael] needs Anna to arrive to soften up and fall in love. I love that it’s a beautiful representation of what life is, just a bunch of wonderful accidents.”

The cast and crew grew quite close while working together, largely due to the film’s location, Moor told Us. The film was shot in a small area of Tuscany called Bagno Vignoni, just a hill above the Val d’Orcia region. Moor jokingly told Us that he didn’t know if you could “even call it a town,” because there was nothing to do in the area.

“As soon as we wrapped filming, we would go into the town square and have drinks and have dinner, and it was just this continuous family moment,” Moor said. “We were just working together and then living in the same space. It just helped the narrative so much that we had all this time to bond and party and be with the crew and have a lot of happy moments.”

Prior to working with Page, Moor said he hadn’t seen the actor in the role of Simon in season one of Bridgerton, but he quickly made up for that after being cast in You, Me & Tuscany.

“When I booked this job, my mom and my aunts and all the people in my family were like, ‘Oh, my God, you’re gonna work with Regé? You have to see it,” Moor told Us. “I was like, OK, I guess I will. And then I saw the show, and then I understood. I was like, ‘Oh, I see why everyone is in love with this man.’ But, yeah, [he’s] so charming. My gosh, so sexy.”

Moor’s upcoming projects include the action-thriller Cliffhanger, which he stars in alongside Lily James and Pierce Brosnan, and Maserati: The Brothers, with Anthony Hopkins and Jessica Alba. While he says he doesn’t necessarily have a dream genre he wants to work on, Moor admitted that he wants to continue working on films that “deeply move me in some way.”

“If the script is rich [with] multitudes and gives you the opportunity to dive deeper and really play, then to me, that is what it’s all about,” Moor said. “I love comedy. It brings me so much joy. But I’m also very excited to play characters that have a very strong arc. [Who] go and have big challenges and something that can really take me somewhere else.”
