Miranda Kerr has addressed the status of her friendship with Katy Perry following the latter’s recent split from her fiancé, Orlando Bloom.

“Having love and respect for each other is so important,” Kerr, 42, insisted on the Tuesday, October 7, edition of Today With Jenna & Friends. “Everyone’s human, and that’s important to really put the children first and what’s the best needs of the children and how do we make everyone feel accepted and loved.”

The Victoria’s Secret model was married to Bloom from 2010 to 2013 and shares a 14-year-old son with the actor, Flynn Bloom. Bloom later welcomed 5-year-old daughter Daisy with Perry prior to their split in June, while Kerr shares three more children with her second husband, Evan Spiegel: Hart, 7, Myles, 5, and Pierre, 19 months.

“At the end of the day, we’re all human and we’re all trying to be the best versions of ourselves. Why not be good examples for our children?” she said of her coparenting relationship with Perry and Bloom.

Modern day friendship! Following Miranda Kerr‘s split from Orlando Bloom, the model and her ex’s new fiancé, Katy Perry, created a unique friendship over the years. Bloom and Kerr were originally married from 2010 to 2013. The pair share son Flynn, who was born in January 2011. The businesswoman later tied the knot with Evan […]

Us Weekly reported in June that Perry, 40, and Bloom, 48, ended their engagement after nearly a decade together.

“Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,” a source close to the pair exclusively revealed to Us at the time. “It’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”

Representatives for the couple later confirmed Perry and Bloom’s split while insisting that they were still united on coparenting their daughter.

“Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting,” a spokesperson for the former couple told Us on July 3. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”

Kerr initially addressed Perry and Bloom going their separate ways in September, as she assured KIIS FM’s “Kyle & Jackie O Show” that all three adults remain focused on their kids.

“We’re one big, happy family,” Kerr said. “Katy is amazing, I love her. And Orlando obviously.”

Perry has only briefly addressed the end of her relationship with Bloom thus far, during an Inglewood, California, concert on July 15 as part of an interactive segment where fans picked one of her songs. When her fans chose “Not Like the Movies” — which Perry wrote during her first marriage to Russell Brand — she jokingly complained that “you’re gonna make me sing this song in this time in my life.” (Perry and Brand divorced in 2012 after two years of marriage.)

“This next song I wrote in my 20s … after my first divorce,” she explained. “[I’ll] try and hold my composure while I sing it a week before my period.”

Meanwhile, Bloom seemed upbeat when he was asked how he was coping with the breakup while promoting his movie The Cut on NBC’s Today on September 5.

“I’m great, man. I’m so grateful. We have the most beautiful daughter … We’re great [and] we’re going to be great. It’s nothing but love,” the Pirates of the Caribbean actor insisted.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are prioritizing their 4-year-old daughter, Daisy, following their split. “They are still very much in touch and coparenting Daisy together,” a source close to the former couple exclusively told Us Weekly. “Orlando brought Daisy to meet Katy on tour before heading to the Bezos’ wedding. It’s not messy between them.” […]

Bloom even had a laugh over the satirical website The Onion making the tongue-in-cheek claim that he was dating former German chancellor Angela Merkel following Perry’s real dates with ex Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over the summer. He responded to an Instagram reposting of the comedic article with three “handclap emojis” in the comments.

Us learned in September that Perry and Trudeau were still seeing each other after they were spotted on a number of high-profile outings.

“They’ve decided to be much more private about it,” an insider disclosed to Us. “They are still speaking and are very interested in each other.”

While the source insisted the romance wasn’t “serious” at the time, the politician was reportedly making plans to visit Perry once she wrapped up the South American leg of her Lifetimes Tour in Brasília, Brazil, on September 19. (Perry resumed her tour after a two-week break on October 4 in Belfast.)

“Justin has made plans to see her when she has downtime in a few weeks when she gets back from her tour in Brazil,” the insider said in September. “Katy is taking it day by day but is very open to dating.”
