The woman dubbed the “egg juror” during Alex Murdaugh’s sensational double-murder trial is now demanding that South Carolina officials hand over sealed records tied to explosive allegations that a court official tampered with the jury.
Myra Crosby, the juror booted from the high-profile 2023 murder trial before deliberations, filed a motion dated May 18 asking the South Carolina Supreme Court to lift protective orders shielding investigative files involving former Colleton County Clerk of Court Rebecca “Becky” Hill.
“The public interest and the ends of justice are best served by transparency,” the filing says.

The filing argues there is no longer any reason to keep the records secret because prosecutors have admitted the jury-tampering probe is concluded.
According to the motion, 11th Circuit Solicitor Rick Hubbard acknowledged during a plea hearing for Hill that investigators lacked enough evidence to charge her criminally with jury tampering.

“I don’t know that I have enough based on what we have to even get an indictment,” Hubbard said in a transcript, attached to the filing. “We cannot get a conviction because we cannot prove that case beyond a reasonable doubt.”

The filing points specifically to a January 2024 protective order in which the court acknowledged it “generally favor(s) public access and transparency,” but determined confidentiality was warranted at the time to protect “ongoing investigations” connected to Murdaugh’s bid for a new trial.
Crosby’s attorney, Joseph McCullough, said his client submitted multiple South Carolina Freedom of Information Act requests to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the attorney general’s office and the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office seeking the full investigative file into allegations Hill improperly influenced jurors during Murdaugh’s murder trial.

But according to the motion, SLED declined to release the records, citing the Supreme Court’s protective order.
Now, Crosby argues, those investigations are over.
“As is now known,” the filing says, “the underlying purposes supporting issuance of the protective order no longer exist.”

Murdaugh’s defense team is now mounting its own effort to gain access to the same materials.
Attorney Dick Harpootlian told Fox News Digital that Murdaugh’s lawyers have filed a separate motion seeking access to the sealed files for use in ongoing civil litigation against Hill.
“We, that is, Alex Murdaugh’s lawyers, also filed,” Harpootlian revealed to Fox News Digital. “It’s a similar motion to allow us access to those files, to subpoena those files so that we might use them in the civil lawsuit that we have against her.”
Harpootlian said the defense motion differs from Crosby’s request because Murdaugh’s attorneys are pursuing active litigation.
“It’s not the same as Myra’s, because hers is basically an FOIL request, and she doesn’t have any pending litigation,” he said. “We have, as you know, a pending [civil] lawsuit against Becky Hill.”

Murdaugh’s defense has alleged that Crosby’s ultimate dismissal was part of a broader effort by Hill to steer jurors toward a guilty verdict.
Crosby became known nationally as the “egg juror” after she was removed from the panel in a viral moment. Another juror had brought in eggs to give away, and Crosby asked if she could get her dozen eggs and purse before leaving. The moment led to laughter in the courtroom.
