“Real American Freestyle is creating something that’s never been done before, and we needed a partner that understood that and could build with us,” Hogan said in a statement to Variety on Tuesday, July 22. “Fox Nation is synergistic with our brand, they appreciate the importance of bringing this sport to the masses and they believe in our goal.”

Hogan was best known for his career as a professional wrestler. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 before being briefly removed in 2015 after a leaked recording surfaced of him using a racial slur.

“WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away,” the WWE said in a statement to Us on Thursday. “One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends and fans.”

Other fans met the athlete through his VH1 reality show Hogan Knows Best.
