US President Donald Trump has continued insisting on Monday that an energy ceasefire is indeed in place between Ukraine and Russia, despite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy saying that Moscow struck his country’s energy sites.

“Well, they agreed,” Trump told reporters as he departed the White House for Ohio.

“Because I said, ‘You agree.’ That’s why they agreed. ” Because I said they agree,” he added.

When pressed about the attacks by Russia, Trump said, “Well, I’d have to look at it and see, because there’s been violations on both sides.”

Drone strike killed one, injured five in Kyiv

Meanwhile, a 25-story residential building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district was hit by a Russian drone on Monday night, which killed one woman and injured at least five other people, the city’s military administration said.

Earlier in the day, falling debris from Russian attacks sparked a fire in a private residential building in the same area, and at least two people were injured in daytime strikes.

The latest attacks came as President Zelenskyy said Monday that while Ukraine is willing to halt attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure, Moscow has continued to strike his country’s energy sites.

Trump’s brief social media post Sunday offered few details but said the energy ceasefire took effect immediately, adding: “Do not break it!” On Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov wouldn’t say whether Russia had agreed to such a ceasefire, saying only: “Contacts are ongoing.”
