From a young age, Victoria Justice felt sure of herself behind a microphone.
“I feel confident when I’m in the studio and I’ve written a song that I love and I’m on the mic and I get to just sing these words,” Justice, 33, exclusively shared with Us Weekly while introducing NAKED Perfume. “It feels like it’s where my soul feels the most free.”
Perhaps it shouldn’t come as a big surprise for a Hollywood star who first found success as a child thanks to Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101 and Victorious.
Away from the cameras, however, Justice says her confidence has always been “evolving.”
“I think, like anyone, I have days where I don’t feel as confident and days where I am feeling myself a little bit more,” she explained. “You know, it fluctuates. But I think one of the things that makes me feel the most confident is when I know that I’m taking care of myself.”
Whether she’s meditating or working out, Justice said she tries to maintain her stress levels “in a healthy way.”
She’s also focused on using products and ingredients that are safer and more beneficial.
In October 2015, Justice revealed to Health magazine that she was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune disorder affecting the thyroid gland. Since then, she’s taken steps to make her health a greater priority.

“When I was 20, I just started experiencing a lot of anxiety, and I just knew that I felt off, and I didn’t really know exactly why,” she explained to Us. “That’s when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s.”
While the initial diagnosis caught her by surprise, Justice said it’s been “empowering to really take control of my health and to monitor it.”
“I feel like I’m in a good place right now,” she continued. “Being really conscious and mindful of the products that I use, the things that I put on my skin, that I put on my body, has become vitally important for me.”
Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, Justice is teaming up with Randi Shinder to introduce NAKED, a community-driven experience centered around scent, music, self-expression and direct fan connection.

For so long, Justice chose to eliminate fragrance from her life because many scents had endocrine disruptors, which can affect hormones.
“I missed using fragrance,” she said. “It’s, like, a part of you, your identity and what makes you feel sexy and finished when you walk out of the house.”
After teaming up with Shinder, who is also “passionate about being more mindful with what we put in our bodies,” Justice has found a fragrance that she is obsessed with that doesn’t compromise her healthy lifestyle.

“When you spray it on, it’s not too overpowering,” she said. “It kind of becomes a part of your skin, like a second skin in a way, and it’s subtly sexy and warm and inviting. It’s just the best.”
With the summer season approaching, Justice is excited about feeling — and smelling — good as she gets back to the microphone to delight fans with more music.
“I’ve been writing a lot of new songs that I’m really, really, really excited about,” she teased to Us. “I am hoping to put one out this summer. … I’m very proud of it, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone.”
