Known Swiftie Nikki Glaser has a theory about how Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement may affect couples around the world.
Glaser, 41, gushed about the couple to Entertainment Tonight at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 7.
“I’m not one to say I saw it coming, but it’s just very obvious to me that this was going to be lasting forever,” the comedian said of Kelce and Swift, both 35. “After watching [Swift’s] interview on [Travis and Jason Kelce’s ‘New Heights’ podcast], it’s like, that’s the kind of guy that you want your best friend to be with. And so, as someone who just feels like they’re friends with her parasocially, I feel like every Swifite just couldn’t have been happier just to see her celebrated in that way and shown off in that way.”
Glaser continued, “He’s obsessed with her, and that’s what every girl deserves, and every guy deserves.”
Glaser, who worked with Kelce on Prime Video’s game show Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, also said that she thinks the pair’s recent engagement could lead other couples to potentially break up.
“I think it’s gonna ruin some relationships, to be honest,” Glaser explained. “Because I think a lot of people watched that and were like, ‘I deserve that. I deserve that type of enthusiasm, and I deserve that kind of person who celebrates me in that way.’ I think there’s a lot of people watching it like, ‘Maybe I deserve better.’”
Glaser added that Swift has “always raised the bar for young women in terms of what we feel like we need and deserve and can do in this lifetime. So I think, even romantically, she’s raising the bar.”
Swift, who began dating Kelce in July 2023 and went public with the romance that September, made her podcast debut on “New Heights” on August 13. During the episode, she recalled how Kelce went on “New Heights” after seeing one of her Eras Tour concerts to express his disappointment over not meeting Swift, which ultimately led to their relationship.

“It was such a wild romantic gesture to just be like, ‘I want to date you!’ At first when I looked at it, I was like, ‘This dude didn’t get a meet and greet and he’s making it everyone’s problem.’ He didn’t even reach out to our management!” she explained. “When this podcast came out, I was like, ‘Did he ever reach out to be in the tents or did we know he was in the building?’ He came with Patrick Mahomes and he thought that because he knows the elevator lady that he could just talk to her about getting [backstage]. That’s how it works in 1973.”
Swift continued, “I’m not an online person at all, I’m not on social media like that, I’m genuinely terrified to open my DMs. There’s smoke coming out of my DMs. If you have, like, 20 million unread DMs, you’re just like, ‘Ahh!’ This was more like I was in an ’80s John Hughes movie and he was just standing outside of my window with a boombox just being like, ‘I want to date you! Do you want to date me!?’ So I was like, ‘If this guy isn’t crazy, which is a big if, this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about what I’ve been wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.”
After Swift noted that Kelce’s move “worked,” he replied, “I’m the luckiest man in the world.”
Nearly two weeks after the podcast episode, Swift and Kelce announced their engagement on August 26.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the pop star captioned a joint Instagram post, which featured photos of the couple surrounded by flowers in a beautiful garden.
One snap showed Kelce on one knee as Swift looked down at her fiancé and cradled his face, while another showed the pair leaning their foreheads together, looking happier than ever. A third photo was a close-up of Swift’s old mine brilliant cut ring, designed by Kindred Lubeck at Artifex Fine Jewelry.
Days after the engagement news broke, Kelce gushed about his fiancée on “New Heights” and thanked fans for their support.
“I appreciate everybody that reached out and sent something and all the posts and all the excitement that’s been going on,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said during the September 3 episode. “It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with.”
