Edwin Arroyave and Teddi Mellencamp are still on good terms as they continue living together after their split.

Arroyave, 48, gushed about his friendship with Mellencamp, 44, following their October 2024 separation during the Tuesday, August 5, episode of his and Eddie Judge’s “The Eds” podcast.

“We’re just, you know, we’re great friends, and you know, I want to make sure she’s taken care of, but we’ve maintained that great relationship,” Arroyave explained. “So even though we’re separated and we’re estranged, and we’re still planning on divorcing, like, we’re still friends. I still see her as a friend.”

Arroyave added that this is the “best” he and Mellencamp have “gotten along in a while.”

“We always got along, but we’re, like, really getting along really well,” he said, later noting that he and Mellencamp aren’t “fighting.”

“It’s great energy in the house,” he continued.

Mellencamp filed for divorce from Arroyave on November 1, 2024, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly. She listed their date of separation as October 20, 2024, and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

The RHOBH alum announced her decision to divorce her husband via Instagram the day after her filing.

“After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” she wrote. “My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter.”

Mellencamp and Arroyave share three children: daughter Slate, 12, son Cruz, 10, and daughter Dove, 5. Arroyave is also a father to daughter Isabella, 15, from a previous relationship.

Mellencamp continued, “Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do, but in an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumors, I felt being open, honest and vulnerable was the best path forward.”

Despite their split, Mellencamp and Arroyave have continued to live under the same roof amid her health battle. She was initially diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in October 2022, but it ultimately developed into stage 4 and metastasized to her lungs and brain.

Mellencamp opened up about her estranged husband’s support in an Us cover story in April.

“I’m really lucky that Edwin, who I was in the middle of a divorce from, we put everything on hold. [It] wasn’t really the time to be fighting over emails,” she said. “He’s been extremely kind and helping with the kids. That’s made things a lot easier.”

Describing their living situation, Mellencamp said, “I’m in the primary [bedroom], and he’s in one of the guest rooms. It’s fun. It’s all the things that I loved about our marriage but without all the problems.”

Mellencamp also said she was grateful that she and Arroyave were in a better place.

“I’m so glad because it was so bad for a while. I was like, ‘How did this happen to me and my best friend of 16 years?’ We’ve always made each other laugh. We always pushed each other’s buttons, and [that made] it fun. And us not being able to have that for a long time was really sad and hard,” she said.

Mellencamp continued, “If any part of this was for a reason, the second that I got sick, he completely changed. It’s a silver lining.
He’s been there for me a hundred percent, he’s been there for the kids, and we’re back to laughing. We call it the ‘Divorce Chronicles.’ And I want to talk [to him] about the kind of girls [he’s] going to marry … because if these people are going to take care of my kids, this is what I want, and this is the definition of what I don’t want.”
